How Spain is Selling More Real Estate at Higher Prices

Residential property in Spain is about 10% more expensive than a year ago, but that’s not stopping buyers from snapping up homes.

In fact, sales are expected to increase by 7% in 2017, according to BBVA.

What’s creating the demand for Spain real estate, and is now the right time for you to make an investment?

As Economy Improves, So Does Spain’s Real Estate Market

Even though prices are predicted to show a 5% increase this year, the interest rates are at an all-time low, making it an attractive time to buy property in Spain. Foreign buyers from the UK, Germany, Belgium, France and other northern European countries are taking advantage of the circumstances while they can, creating demand and driving prices up even further.

In addition, unemployment in Spain is down and households have more disposable income available to buy a home. BBVA expects the number of … Read More

The Spectacular Experience of Cycling in Murcia

No matter where in Murcia you may be hanging your hat these days, you’re bound to see cyclists around town, in the mountains and along the coast. In fact, there are some places you’re likely to see more bikes than cars. It’s a bike-friendly area, and that’s one of the reasons why so many people go cycling in Murcia.

Cycling for Sport and Leisure

The unique terrain of Murcia lends itself to some spectacular biking routes. Of course, you have the mountain paths for a challenging ride and some of the best scenery. But you also have tranquil breezeways by the water, where you can take your mind off things and enjoy the year-round comfortable temperatures. In our opinion, one of the best ways to really see the area is to go cycling in Murcia. You just can’t get the same experience from driving.

The Sailing Life in Costa Calida

You don’t have to be in the region of Murcia for very long to notice the water is where’s it at. On most days, you’ll find folks commanding various watercraft across the calm currents of the Mar Menor lagoon. Or, for the more agile among us, taking on the challenging pace of the Mar Mayor (Mediterranean). Personally, one of our favorite pursuits is sailing in Costa Calida, which can be enjoyed a few different ways.

Learning to Sail in Costa Calida

Whether you’ve never been sailing before or you’ve primarily been a passenger, you can easily get your feet wet by taking sailing lessons in Costa Calida. There are more than 25 water sports centers to help you do so, including the Mar Menor Water Sports Consortium. Once you go through the necessary training and obtain a license, there are plenty of places that have sailboats available for you … Read More

Go Windsurfing in the Costa Calida

It’s hard not to notice all of the water sports that happen here, especially if you spend any amount of time near the waterfront. One of our favorite pastimes is to go windsurfing in the Mar Menor, and the best part is you can do it year-round.

With 300 days of sunshine, the Costa Calida (Murcia) offers up the perfect environment for windsurfing. The water is relatively quiet in this region, and it’s also very shallow. There are lots of places that offer lessons and rental equipment up and down the coast – from Mar Menor and La Manga to Mazarron and Aguilas. The Darsena de Dos Mares is a popular sporting beach in La Manga, where you can go windsurfing in the Mar Menor’s warm waters and take advantage of the favorable wind patterns.

Another bonus: you don’t have to know how to windsurf to go windsurfing here. … Read More

As one of the most experienced real estate agents here in Murcia, we come across a lot of potential buyers who wonder if it’s a good time to buy property in Spain.

We love this question, because for the most part it has been a good time to purchase Spanish real estate for the last eight years. Prices have been low, interest rates have been low, and it’s largely been a buyers’ market – for those who had the extra cash.
