There are so many things to do in Murcia during the Easter celebrations with all the cultural traditions of Holy Week (Semana Santa) that is special to Spain. This includes some amazing processions of people carrying an assortment of floats, wearing beautiful costumes, and conical hats! They often wind their way down narrow ancient streets, full of lots of character.
Holy week festivities usually begin on Palm Sunday (Domingo de Ramos) and finish on Easter Monday (Lunes de Pascua), and you are likely to find lots of different processions on each of the intervening days. Last year when we wrote about the expected opening of the new Murcia Airport outside Corvera, only one airline was slated to schedule flights in and out of the location. Now that the airport is open for business, we are happy to report seven airlines are operating from Corvera (officially called Region de Murcia International Airport).
The new Murcia airport is expected to handle six million passengers in 2019, so an increase in airlines means more available flights for Spanish property owners who want to come and go as they please (and it’s more convenient for their guests, too!).
The Region de Murcia International Airport is located just outside Corvera, around 30kms from Costa Calida.
